Hello awesome community at Tom's Hardware! I am here to ask you help in building my first custom PC. I am trasitioning from a somewhat gamey-ish laptop that had a puny i7 and a GeForce GT 630M with 2GB VRAM.

So lets fill out the form shall we?

Approximate Purchase Date: TBD

Budget Range: 1000 Euros aka 900-1000 pounds in uk.pcpartpicker.com

System Usage From Most To Least Important: Gaming, Streaming/Recording/Video Editing, Coding/Programming/Game Development, 3d modelling/ 3d animation, Texturing/Painting, Web Surfing, Normal Usage.

Are you buying a monitor: No.

Do you need to buy an OS: No.

Location: Gondomar, Porto, Portugal (I get my components at a local store which may or may not have discounts, but if I can get a better deal online I will take it). I can order from some EU countries without customs fees.

Parts Preference: I would like an AMD GPU but I just want the best performance and bang for buck.

Overclocking: Definitely yes.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe now if better bang for buck (would rather not though), almost definetly in the future.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (I would like 4k ready performance as I might purchase a monitor later)

Additional Information: I am seriously considering custom water cooling or an expandable AIO. I want a motherboard that can overclock well, and that has good gaming and non gaming features. I prefer AMD over NVidia in GPU as GSync is dead, AMD got Mantle and you can probably get a Open(G/C)L wrapper to use PhysX on AMD cards. As I'll be running VM's and memory intensive games like Kerbal Space Program highly modded in x64 mode that can eat 8GB or more RAM, I would like at least 16 GB of RAM but if you can make a major upgrade to any other component by sacrificing 8GB of ram Im okay with that. I am also going to be playing high demand games like Star Citizen, Battlefield Hardline, (maybe) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Singleplayer and offline multiplayer (I hate the CoD community as a result of bad past experiences), No Man's Sky, etc. I would also like a SSD of at least 128 GB for games, OS(es) and intensive programs like 3d rendering. I would also like a at least 1TB (preferably 2+) HDD for general storage. I may be multibooting.

Why I am Upgrading: I want a gaming PC that can run next gen games at full setting at 60 fps or reduce setting a little for more performance but generally I want great performance and graphics, something that I cannot get from a laptop.

Thank you for bearing with me and thank you for the help.

Should do everything you expect it to do. The R9 290 is a beast and is perfect for just about anything. 4690k is Intel's most powerful(overclockable) i5 CPU, the motehrboard is good quality, and I made sure to add extra storage for streaming/videos and gaming(Most good games these days go up to 40 gigs). Enjoy:
