My pc recently started to blue screen crash when I was playing a modded Dark souls. I checked around and came to the conclusion that it was probably my GPU overheating, so I installed MSI afterburner and checked my temps while running Dark Souls and sure enough I was getting 90+ temps. I also checked Far Cry 3 just to make sure it wasn't just Dark Souls or the mods on Dark souls causing this and I was getting pretty much the same temps if not a little higher. I pulled out my card and blew out the dust and this had almost no effect. I'm wondering if it could be anything else before I disassemble my card and apply new thermal paste.
The Card is a GTX 670 FTW and it idles at around 12 degrees.

I applied new thermal paste and it has not had any effect on the temps. Could it be anything else?

A stupid question but checked the fan if it's spinning or not ?
And does the card have good airflow ?

The card fan is definitely spinning and I having 2 front 120mm and 1 top 200mm intake and a 140mm exhaust on my CM storm trooper. It should be pretty good airflow.

Try this, front 2 fans as intake, top and rear fans should be exhaust, also open the side panel just to test and run games to check the temps.

The top one was exhaust already, my mistake. Could it be a software problem?

That's the thing, if it was a software problem it would only overheat with selected games. If you have another pc or try running it on a friend's pc and see the results.

Could it be drivers? If it was hardware wouldn't it always be running hot?
Also I don't have a friends pc to run it in :/

It could be a driver related, and i've been holding this back so not jump into conclusion. But I think your card is faulty and it should be RMAed. I searched for it from the beginning but i went step by step to not ruin your card with this opinion. You could try older drivers to see and hopefully fixes it also you could down clock the gpu clock speed and see how that goes.. If nothing works then yeah it's a faulty card. And yes it has happened with other few 670s..

I should mention that I've been using this card for about a year and half and really haven't had a blue screen problem before, if that changes anything. I tried older drivers and got the same results. It should still be under warranty, correct?

Yes it has 3 years warranty
You would want to contact them for an RMA :)
