So i have an abit ab9 pro currently running a dual core oc'd

I'm ordering the core 2 quad q6600 but i can't find out at what point the bios started supporting them, and i don't want to update if i don't have too.

I think i'm currently running bios 15, but looking at cpu-z it seems to give 2 different ones

at the top it says bios 15 (abit says release for that was 2006/10/19)

and the middle says 2006/12/19 which is the release date for bios 16

Alright

well i check the bios page on the abit site and none of them directly say what update will support core 2 quad

only ones that talk about cpu are bios 19 which gives "Support FSB1333 CPUs" and 15 which enables multiplier adjusting function for Core 2 Duo CPU

multiplier asjusting is for overclocking and FSB1333 CPUs are cpus that have an FSB of 1333 Mhz. your cpu has an FSB of 1066 Mhz so you son't need an update. But I still suggest getting the latest bios version of your mobo.

yeah i know what they are, i'm just saying those are the only 2 bios updates that describe a cpu update in them.

The board didn't originally support core 2 quad, it was through an update but idk which one.

just installed it so i guess i didn't need to update.

though something annoying happens with this one and my previous Dual core. Seems to report my processor speed wrong in my computer. first 700 with the dc and now 900 with the new quad

the processor is using the correct speed (2.4 ghz) but windows just doesn't report it.
