NAS servers versus RAID configuration

I was originally going to start to put together a NAS server using Synology diskless storage and buy the additional harddrives required for this. This would allow me to control my massive music library which exceeds 4TB. Now of course, this would mean that I already have a stereo, speakers and son. I would be in control of my playlists or what ever I wanted to hear via some app or something on an ipad or tablet or some manufacturers have their own software. I also run uTorrent and do quite a log of seeding through it. Is there a way to continually seed lets say 7 different torrents without interrupting my playlists, my music or any other day to day task I was going to do. Since getting into the NAS setup that I am describing is going to take a while, I've considered just for now getting one of those Western Digital external storage RAID setup things. They come in up to 12TB but they are not NAS. I am still learning about the whole NAS process and how to best set this type of setup up. Thanks.
