Hi guys, on the advice of some of you lovely people I purchased a new R280 gpu to replace my old, semi broken gpu.

When it finally arrived, I plugged it in, seated it properly, put the power cables in correctly (fairly idiot proof I think) and booted it up.

My monitor just goes to standby mode and nothing happens. I've tried leaving it for a while to see if anything sorts itself out but nothing happens. There isn't even any beeps to let me know it's not been installed correctly.

Assuming it was a DOA card I tried it in a friends rig and it worked perfectly. I've tried my old 7950HD in my pc too and that still works fine.

I've even tried formatting my pc to check if it was a strange compatability issue or something, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

PCI-E slot is 3.0 and worked with the 7950 fine, power supply is 550w so I don't think it would be a power supply issue and the fans are running on it.

Any advice would be an amazing help guys.

Thanks.

Drivers shouldn't cause an issue because it's the same drivers (I think) for an r280 as a 7950. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my old card works, but it's a bit glitchy and I need this fixed before I completely lose any returns rights.

1 550W CM RS550-ACAAD3-UK GX 80
1 GByte GA-Z77X-UD3H Z77 MoBo
1 2TB SEAGATE ST2000DM001 SATA3
1 CORS CC-9011023-WW 200R CASE
1 8GB 2x4GB CML8GX3M2A1600C9 LP (bought another 8gb of the same stuff a while later, so it's 16gb now)
1 Intel Core i5 2500K unlocked s

Think that's everything. Connection to monitor is either HDMI or DVI, I've tried both.

I think it's pretty up to date on the BIOS front, but it won't hurt to check that. Will do that now. EDIT: Checked and it's all fine.

Yea the int graphics is working fine, same with when I use my old card in it.

Nope, afraid not. I've tested it in another rig and it works fine too. I'm pretty stumped.
