Metro last light freezing and causing windows to lock up

My specs are up to snuff, a gtx 780 ti i7-4770K and when I play metro last light for a 20 mins-1 hour it will not only freeze but it will just lock up windows to where I can't do anything even after exiting the game. I exited the game and one time there was a fast notification from nvidia control panel that had some kind of driver error. (it vanished so quick that I couldn't read it in time) Is my graphics card ok? I can run the game on phsyx on everything ultra and get over 100fps. I hope and pray that my 780 ti isn't crapping out on me...

Hello,

as usual in this case scenario you should check your temps. It sounds like something is overheating.

You can download http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php , install it, run it with tick on Sensors only. Start your game and play for 10 min or so. Alt+Tab or exit the game and check max temps for CPU and GPU.

If you want you can post a screenshot here, or just say what they are.

I was using my nvidia system monitor software, my GPU got up to 67C and my CPU got to 45C so it's defiantly not overheating

Hm...

temps look fine. If you haven't yet you could try using a driver sweeper like this one here http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/guru3d-driver-sweeper.html to remove your nVidia GPU drivers. After you do this download and install the latest drivers from nVidia's website.

If this doesn't help it could be something dodgy with your PSU - e.g. not providing enough power.
