I'm working on my first build focused on gaming and was thinking about which CPU to use. I'm aiming for the $150-$200 range. Should I go with locked i5 quad core or an AMD eight core of similar price and OC the heck out of it? If you want, please also recommend a chip and a good mobo to go with it. (I'm on a budget; staying under $800.)

Best deals for your price range. AMD gives you a great value for the budget but the i5-4690K blows everything away when you can pick it up for that price.

I only paid $135 at Tiger (with promo and sale) for a FX 8350. By the time you OC the 8320 up to 8350 speed, you'll probably be back to a 125W CPU.

The FX 8370E is going to be 4.1Ghz stock and 4.4 Ghz with turbo, at 95W. no overclocking needed, this is out of the box. shouldbe 189.99 right in OP's price range. Its clocked higher and power optimized and should come out early September.

they seem to be pretty specific with the specs, i hope this comes to light soon.

AMD has been doing a lot of work on the efficiency end as of late.

thats a big claim to make, but regardless the future of consumer PC's should be stellar.
