Hello,

In a bit of a pickle ATM my XFX 7850 bit the dust more than likely will be able to RMA it but still thinking of going with something with a bit more juice and hand the 7850 down to my nephew.

My issue might be with my PSU for what Im looking at based on Newegg's PSU calculator and the system I run.

Im looking at an XFX R9 280 or up or a 7970 depending on PSU requirements based off Newegg my PSU will be fine for the 7900 series but not for the R9 series so below is my system looking to see if the calculator is just being wacky based on my whole system.

CPU: AMD FX 9590
MB: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GB x 4
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
SSD: Samsung 256GB 840 Pro
HDD 1: Western Digital Black 500GB
HDD 2: Western Digital Green 3TB
Optical: Samsung DVD-RW x2
PSU: Seasonic SS-760XP2 platinum
Case: Corsair Obsidian 550D 2 x 120mm Intake fans1 x 120mm Exhaust Fan

Any help on if the R9's are as power hungry as they list or will I be fine even with my power hungry system?

Your 750w has the power to handle ANY single card system. That's an extremely high quality PSU with plenty of amps.

yes but that's not figuring in a 220 watt CPU im going to take the gamble, with a 7900 series its stating on Newegg 687 and with the R9 series 1012 needed figuring that Seasonic is known to be able to handle more wattage than advertised and that if a 280 is just a rebranded 7900 series I should be safe if not GPU gets set aside till a 1200 watt PSU fits in the budget
