I am running Windows 8 on my Acer Aspire V3 laptop and it is fairly new.
Lately I have been having problems having my iTunes recognize my 5th Gen iPod Touch. My laptop itself recognizes the iPod and I am able to go in and look through my internal storage DCIM folder, it just never shows up in iTunes. After running an iTunes diagnostic, I get the error that no iPod is found and that in the details "No Universal Serial Bus Controller found" and "No FireWire (IEEE 1394) Host Controller found" appear. I have reinstalled iTunes so it is brand new. When I go through my laptop's Device Manager and go to the Universal Seriel Bus Controllers section, it shows all root hubs and other hubs as properly updated and working, but when I go to the preferences section under the folder of USB Controllers, nothing appears- no options or descriptions of the controllers and is entirely blank as shown below:

I looked through the official Acer website to find if there were any possible driver downloads available and there is a USB Controller download, but only for Windows 7, not for Windows 8.

As the photo shows, the Bluetooth driver is the only thing with a yellow error icon next to it.

If anyone could please help in any way, I would be very appreciative.

try reinstalling intel chipset drivers. most of the drivers should be there if not if that unit has intel usb chipset run the intel driver checker on there web page let it find the missing drivers for yoU. On the missing bluetooth driver use pci device info under the missing device and google it to find the vendor of the bluetooth.

I am attempting to install the given chipset drivers for Windows 8 from the Acer website for my laptop but I am not sure they installed properly as the process happened very quick, the Read More in the downloaded folder only specified for Windows 7, XP, and 2000 despite me clicking the download for Windows 8, and the fact iTunes still says the USB Controller is missing.

As for the Intel Driver Checker, it only shows I need an update for the HD Graphics 4000 driver. I am currently installing the updates for that but I am not sure if it will help with reinstalling the Controller.
