Since both are from the Tahiti family, yes you can. But both will run at the speed of a R9 280. If you are thinking about buying a 280x to CF with the 280, bad idea, you will be wasting money/performance.

Yes but if you want to Xfire and already have a R9280x buy a 280 but if you own a 280 its not worth buying a 280x to Xfire with

yes they can if you have a r9 280x just get another or get two r9 280's and over clock them or if you have a r9 280x, get the r9 280 and overclock.
