I got a Q6600, i first, of course, checked if it is compatible:
http://processormatch.intel.com/Processors/CompatiblePr...
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dq965...

My motherboard is a Intel Guardfish DQ965GF.

And both these pages say there's no problem. But when the CPU arrived i saw that there are no pins on it, and my old processor does.

I read a bit on the subject and as far as i understood there shouldn't be issues, because both CPU's are a 775 socket like my mobo.

I just wanted to know if i made a mistake in buying it and ask if there are any installation differences.

Your old processor should not have pins on it. Your socket has pins though. This is common for all of the recent Intel processors today and back to the socket you are using now. AMD is the only company still using processors with pins today. So it should be fine. I looked at a picture of the board you listed online and it does show the motherboard as having pins.
