Hi..I know this is the most frequently asked question but it seems a bit odd to me. I got

mb: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P9X79_DELUXE/
cpu: http://ark.intel.com/products/63698/Intel-Core-i7-3820-Processor-10M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz
gpu: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX670DC22GD5/overview/

Gpu-z: http://gyazo.com/add43fbc4ad481211279dd82aeed4509

Both mb and gpu are PCI Express 3.0, so why gpu-z shows that my gpu supports v2? Is it perhaps, because of the cpu's pci express revision 2? Does it limit the performance?

Solution

yeah the pcie controller is integrated into the cpu and since it is rev 2.0 everything will run at 2.0 speeds even if the gpu was 3.0.

Splendid

Solution

That's essentially correct. You won't have any performance loss running your card in a 2.0 slot.
