What is your goal with this upgrade? Just office type stuff, gaming (which games and what do you expect of graphic settings), video rendering, ...?

The fact that you want to upgrade your graphics card tells me you want it for gaming and it won't do much good to upgrade your graphics card without a cpu/mobo upgrade.

Here is the thing, will an upgrade make a difference? Maybe a little but unless you upgrade your whole system you won't notice much gain so I would advice to save up a little more and then buy a complete new setup.

You can most likely keep your case and if it is of good quality your power supply might still be used. Media drive should still be OK though if it is IDE you might be limited in mobo options or need to buy an adapter. Hard drives is something you can decide for yourself, do you need more space? is boot really slow (after the upgrade of your other gear)? is copying files to slow?

(Prices in euro though it should be compareble for USD as components tend to be cheaper for you guys.)
I would say if your psu is still ok and you can keep the same OS (do you have retail windows?) you will need 500 for an decent setup (good performance/buck), 750 for a good setup (good performance/buck) or 1000 for a high end setup (bad performance/buck).

Lower than 500 is definitely possible but you might not be able to play some current games at all, you might want to give us an idea of what games you want to play and if fancy video settings are important to you if you do an upgrade.
I would advice in the 500 to 750 range of spending on an upgrade as that seems to me like a good performance for the buck range.

And FYI the decent setup for 500 should beat the new consoles in performance though over time games will get better optimized for the new consoles so the gap will close and might switch.

I went for a little better than recommended specs. I assume you're case is Micro-ATX that you went with that mobo? I also assumed you liked Asus because of the mobo so I picked a good asus card. I didn't change the mobo because you didn't give me any information about why you picked it or what type of form-factor it needs to be, not that is is a bad mobo just maybe there are better options, didn't look yet. I went with nVidia CPU because you initially proposed an nVidia card. And I tried to stick to around 500 dollars though if you look for deals and such you should be able to go cheaper.

I didn't yet do a full check to see if all parts are 100% compatible and will do that when you give your approval.

I would like to know what power supply you have though so I can check if it is good and powerfull enough.
