CPU won't install into MOBO. Advice please.

I have a i7 4790k and a Maximus Vii Hero sitting on my table. I was expecting an easy build but the arm will not close on the CPU. I'm scared that if I apply any more force I will break my brand new CPU and can already see some damage to the lips at the side.

Any suggestions?

Make sure the cover slids under the stud properly (at the bottom on the picture you posted).

I managed to get the lid down but now I'm getting an FE Qcode which is not a known one.

All up and running after changing to slower RAM for the first boot. I'm not sure why but I think it was due to the 2800 RAM not working initially. Thank you for all of your help.
