Hello people,

I've just built a new rig however sometimes all the fans would spin everything would come on in the background however the display would not be up. I know the computer posts and boots as the lights on both my mouse and keyboard showed, these do not show unless the computer has posted and booted! However sometimes the display will not show up.

I also noticed that SOMETIMES the fan on my GFX card would spin and then stop and spin and stop and so on (happened while no display was shown)... I believe the problem is either with my new GFX card or my PSU. Specs are below. Please help :)

CPU: FX 6300
Mobo: Biostar A960D+
GFX: Sapphire R7 260X 2GB OC
RAM: 8gb G Skill Ares @ 1866mhz
HDD: 500GB 7200rpm Hitachi
PSU: 350W FSP350-60THN-P

Any help is greatly appreciated!

That's not powerful enough, you need a 500w PSU for a single R7 260X.

Thanks so much for the reply. I know it says 500W on the Sapphire website, but is this absolutely necessary? A good 500W psu is slightly out of my budget for now, I was thinking of purchasing the Corsair CX430, would that suffice? Thanks again.

I've no idea if 430w would be sufficient, I always take the manufacturer's recommendations as good enough for me, nothing less.

Having said that, manufacturer's recommendations always have an element of "overkill" to cover themselves so 430w might be enough, I just can't say positively that it will be because I've never had to put it to the test.

What's the price difference between a 430w and a 500w? Not much I would guess, certainly not enough difference in price to choose 430w over 500w?

By all means try a 430w if you want to prove a point at the (small) risk of wasting your money. If it's any encouragement I'm leaning towards 430w being enough the more I think about it.

Ok first ALL RAM is the same except for speed, which makes no difference for gaming. Second you Have to have a 500 watt power supply, you don't need an EVGA psu (EVGA is of the highest quality but over priced), choose a corsair 500 watt for like 60 bucks.
