On my old computer, windows is corrupted. I don't want to reinstall windows or anything I just want to get files off the hard drive. I was thinking of just putting the hard drive in my new computer and getting the files off that way but now im wondering. Since the hard drive from the old computer has windows on it will my computer load windows from the old hard drive or the new one?

Verify your existing drive is first and only in the boot sequence. If so, then it should not try to boot from the old drive.

Or, get a USB cable or dock. Boot as normal, then connect the drive in the USB thing.

In the old days of IDE drives it would not have been a problem but these days you don't have an option of making one drive master and one slave but you can do it by telling the computer which drive to boot from, I use a gigabyte board so I press f12 at startup and you should have an option to do the same thing that way you can boot into your new drive and still be able to access your files from your old drive after windows loads.
