Hello all,

So I have recently finished my first build and downloaded my motherboard's drivers. I decided to move on to the graphics card drivers and the installation disk splash informs me that the graphics adapter is not compatible with the drivers.

I then decide to go to NVIDIA's website and try to manually download there and again to no avail. There is no graphics card found.

I try to troubleshoot I have inserted and re-inserted my card 'firmly'. My power connectors are in the right place (the fans are spinning currently).

Is my card a dud? Or is it something else?

The rest of my build:

ASRock H97 Pro4 motherboard
PNY Geforce GTX 770 4gb (1 graphics card)
Windows 8.1
Corsair C600XM

If you need anyother specs let me know but I think those are the most relevant.

Did you not find a graphics card in the device manager or was that the message the installer gave you?

Have you your monitor connected to your graphics card or to the onboard vga solution?

I cant find it in device manager. And I am currently connected to the onboard VGA adapter. And when I try to connect to the video card slot, the screen doesn't recognize anything.

In that case you should go for a warranty claim, especially since it is brand new. Sucks I know, you can't try your system out immediately but its the safer option.

FYI a graphics card should always give some output, for example the post screen and then basic vga mode. Even if you power it incorrectly (not enough power) it should indicate this. (I have already seen that happen accidentally). So if it doesn't do that then it must be defect.
