Hi everyone!

On XFX website says the R9 280 needs a minimum 750w and recommended 850w, I really can't believe that, my PSU is an XFX 750w im not gonna upgrade it again just to get the 850w. My PSU it's like 2 months old. I want to know if my PSU can handle it with all the other components.

PC Specs:

CPU - I5 4430 2.7GHZ
RAM - 10GB
MOTHERBOARD - h81m-pro

Thank you

750W is more than enough, even a good quality 600W can handle that card. 750W XFX is going to be real nice, no issues :)

That is because some guy will buy a 'Super Ultra Mega' 700W PSU for $30 and will cry foul over XFX when the PSU, which'll use the cheapest capacitors available, melt after a 300W load is put on it. So to avoid that, they mention the overkill PSU requirements as the recommended ones.

Any 600W+ PSU from Antec/ EVGA/ XFX/ SeaSonic will be good enough to handle R9 280 :)

I'm running my 280 on a 450W gold PSU. It's a 225W part. 750W will run two of them.

Your 450w Gold is better than the normal xfx 750w?

That's what I'm trying to say, you don't need 750W. That's enough for two of those cards. I have a 225W GPU, a 77W CPU, and perhaps another 50W for the drives, ram, etc. This is only ~350W for the system. My 450W cuts it close, but it is a really good PSU. Even if you used another 225W for a second card and had a power hunger FX AMD CPU, then your up to ~625W. A good 750W PSU can do that. You'll be fine with your PSU.

In short, XFX is a good brand, and it would easily cut it with lots of extra room. XFX PSUs are made by SeaSonic, which are amongst the best manufacturers, so you don't have anything to worry :)
