First off, if you have helped me decide before, thank you. You guys are probably thinking "this guy upgrades too much," but I have not had great experiences with my current CPU. I have had strange BSODs and temp problems that have given me great grief. I am currently sitting at my maximum overclock of 4,141.1 MHz. Last I checked, 90% of 4770Ks could reach 4.2. Mine can't. It BSODs with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I have to apply even past 1.3 V to get to 4,150 MHz, and I am at 1.227 for 4,141.1. I also have oddly high load temps, even though my CPU is fine. I reach the 80s at my current setup when others with my setup go into the 60s with the 4770k at AVX2. Normal usage temps are fine, though. A buddy is upgrading from an Athlon and might be interested in buying my components from me, so I thought I might do that. I was thinking because Haswell-E came out 2 days ago and I live 15 miles from a MicroCenter, I might jump onto the 5820k. It has 6 cores, 12 threads, 28 PCIe lanes, and the IHS is SOLDERED! (At least with the 5960X, assuming the same for the 5820k) The thing that I noticed with X99 is that the mobos are RIDICULOUSLY expensive compared to the Z97 equivalent. I was originally thinking an X99-SOC Force (I am used to my Z97X-SOC Force and its BIOS is great) but then found out that the MSRP is probably going to be $350+. The cheapest pretty good mobo I found was the MSI X99S SLI PLUS. The ASRock boards are cheaper, but they are a serious pain to OC on. I had a few MSI boards before, the BIOS is good. The next option is the Gigabyte X99-UD4 (Probably similar BIOS to the SOC Force) for $30 more. Not all boards are listed on Newegg yet, so I am not sure yet. I also have to buy some RAM (DDR4 is so expensive) and I saw that 8GB would not allow me to use the Quad-Channel capability. I like high RAM speed and fast transfer speeds. 16GB seems like a good option. As for my 4770K, it is good for rendering, but I did notice that the 5820K performs very similarly to the 4930K or 4960X at the same clock speeds (Don't mind OCing a bit), so I could get much faster rendering times and compression times. My buddy is also rendering, but he doesn't care about OCing. I can put him on this CPU's maximum clocks and he could render away. I am just looking for others' insight on this and what mobos to consider and what RAM to go for. The G.Skill Ripjaws 4 RAM looks good. My case doesn't support E-ATX (have seen cases where people modded it to, not going to rip my case apart modding again if I don't need to), so the X99-SOC Force probably will not fit. I just need parts that are all compatible and ones that will give me happiness. I have seen a lot on X99 and the Haswell-E parts, and I am not planning on getting more cards (Cannot anyways, they are 270x's) anytime soon and I am fine with these for now. I am wondering how soon prices may drop to something more reasonable. Right now, I can get everything for $808.77, but I can maybe only get $475-500 out of my buddy, not sure what to do with my RAM. Selling my previous parts on eBay was a total mess. Not wanting to go down that road again. Thanks for the insight, just looking for some good RAM and a good mobo that won't make me sell my wallet.

Just going to quickly add that this is a POSSIBILITY, and that I am not buying this immediately (for now).

I have had excellent results with my MSI Intel mobo, so that option would be attractive to me. However, I am yet to see any reviews of X99 hardware and I would like to see that before committing so much cash to a new platform.
