I have a HP PSC 1610 All-in One Printer. I try to print and have gotten several different errors. The first time as I was setting up my printer I was given the error "Change Color Cartridge" I took out the cartridge and put it back in and low and behold it worked. I went to print something and the error came back. I then found a solution to put it into "Mech Mode" which I did. Now I can get the printer to the "Ready" position and when I go to print my computer says "error printer offline" and then my printer says "printing...". I then have to turn my printer off and back on but I have to make sure it's in "Mech Mode" or else it either requires me to change the color cartridge or it says "printing...". I'm at a loss and none of the HP forums have helped whatsoever. If anyone has any insight it'd be much appreciated.

Solution
If the cartridges are properly installed with the tape removed and the correct drivers are installed, in a Windows 8 system, there should be no underlying reason for the driver to not work properly without having to find a "fix". I would return the unit as faulty and exchange it for another.
Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but you did remove the plastic peel off strips from the print cartridge heads, right? Had to ask. If you're using the drivers windows installs automatically you may need to install the HP OEM drivers that came on the disk or that you can download from their website.

Not a stupid question lol. Yes I checked that after trying the first like 20 things I tried. They were already off though.I also already downloaded/redownloaded from their site three times.
