i'm looking for expert helps
the thing is i want too build a gaming rig and troubled too choose betwen i5 4460 and fx 8320. if i go with i5 i will have to bear with average asrock b85 fatality chipset mobo but if fx 8320 i could bought a better one like asus m5a97 r2 . anything else is relative the same with amd 270x gpu. i hope too play game like bf4 da inquisition and other next gen game with smooth and good overall performance maybe high or ultra if possible. thanks

The Intel is twice as fast per core.
There are not many games that use more than 4 cores.

I used to be an AMD fan, but I can see no use for them now.
They are not cheap enough to make up for the difference, except in a few instances.

If you do a lot of 8 core programs, it is cost efficient.
Photoshop is the only one that comes to mind.

Edit
Here come the fan boys

yeah that's true , but i would like too consider amd mantle performance boost on each i5 4460 and fx 8320. which will get the most performance increase and compability with each other.. since i heard mantle been doing a good job in boosting gaming performance and i will be playing games supported by mantle like bf 4 and DAI
thanks

Now, I may be a bit biased here, but I recommend the 4460, since I own one and it's great for gaming. Runs BF4 like a charm too.

From what little I've read about Mantle, it seems that Mantle only helps AMD GPUs and it doesn't do anything for the CPU, AMD or Intel. I could be wrong though.

For gaming, I would go for the i5. No contest!

actually after some thinking i will pair fx 8320 with msi 970a g46 since it support crossfire and maybe in the future maybe 4-6 month later i will add another r9 270x and crossfire it
and right now i confused which one will perform better in single gpu and crossfire later....

B85 Fatality doesn't support CF? That's odd, considering my $80 basic MSI B85 supports Crossfire.

Wow, 4 go with Intel, and you go with AMD.

Why ask, in the first place?

no that's not what i mean, what i changes were the fx mobo not the i5
yeahh right now i'm a bit biased too i5 but still not enough too make me feel "yes this is the one..!"

i7 is you next step.

The only difference between an i5 and an i7 is bigger cache and hyperthreading.

Most games don't use hyper threading.
The cashe probably helps though

Don't do that! That is the worst possible choice!

I'm a big fan of MSI Intel mobos. MSI makes some great ones, but their AMD FX 970 based mobos are CRAP!

We tried.

The only good side is 8 cores for cheap.
If you do photo shop, 8 cores can be used, and it might even beat an i5, but not by much.

It is tough to get around the fact that AMD fastest core is 1/2 the speed of Intel's fastest core.

With the new CPU that Intel just came out with, it is probably even more of a deficit.

AMD needs a huge breakthrough to catch up, and nobody sees one coming.

Not to mention the wattage AMD used Vs Intel.
