So I bought an aftermarket cooler a few days. It will be arriving tomorrow. I have watched a few videos on how to install it and I noticed that on the back of my motherboard (where the back mount plate thing goes) there is a rectangle that sticks out. I have never installed a cpu cooler before (other then stock of course) and I'm wondering if the back mount plate thing will still be able to be screwed if this big rectangle is in the way. I didn't see anything like this in the videos I looked at which is why I am worried.

Here is a picture of it. http://i.imgur.com/jGYalDH.jpg

The real question is how do I work around this?

Its called a backplate, It's a brace for the cooler, the screws for it are screwed in from the back of the board where they go through the cooler and then out the other side creating a 'motherboard sandwich'. The cooler is then screwed into the threads that the brace is screwed into. Kinda hard to explain, watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS1FYjd0ZYc

So am I correct in assuming that I just put the back mount thing that comes with my aftermarket cpu cooler over that plate on that back and it will screw in and everything?

Yep, assuming there is no aftermarket backplate already installed. There should be specific instructions that come with the cooler. If not do a search on youtube.
