I fondly remember back in the day when ATI Radeon 9800 reigned supreme and the company commanded 2 years of leadership when it came to GPU performance. However, not only did the 9800 cards performed better than Nvidia alternatives, but the ATI cards produced better image quality as well.

These days, I don't remember seeing any comparison of the GPUs when it comes to image quality. Why is that? Do all GPUs output the same quality now? During those times both ATI and Nvidia were also caught altering image quality a bit to produce better FPS to put more distance from each other.

Thanks

There is such things today, but the differences are so minor that they are neglectable. Unless you go frame per frame in external application, you wont notice the ever-so-subtle difference in a particle or two. Video cards have came such a long way since then, that today they are mainly measured FPS, price, power consumption and noise.
