A few months ago i built a gaming pc. I couldnt do a wired network because my router/modem is in another room, so i decided to use a usb wireless adapter from an old keyboard i have. The connectivity on it is pretty bad i lag quite a bit with it. So now heres the question: should i get a new wireless adapter? I dont think i could ever go wired because my router/modem is like 20ish ft away but i wish i could. Help?

I would recommend trying out a pair of power line network adapters over another USB wifi adapter, especially for a gamer.

Power line network adapters use modulation to place the Ethernet signal on your home's electrical wiring. They essentially communicate with each other over the same wires that carry electricity. One is placed at the router and the other in your room.

Depending on the quality of wiring and circuit considerations, they can provide a very fast connection. In many cases the connection can be many times better than a wireless connection, and can greatly reduce the amount of lag you are experiencing.
