If i play minecraft with my r9 270x gaming edition 2gb from msi
then i get like 200 to 300 fps

my friend with theseme specs but with an gtx 750ti got like 300 to 400 fps

What's up with that?

More about : 270x performance lower gpu

EXACT same specs?

Minecraft is more a CPU intensive game, you would really only see those kinds of gains with a better CPU.

According to this, the 270X should be about 10% better than the 750 ti

HWcompare -- 750ti vs 270X

Some games have a tendency to run better with brand specific GPU's (eg; borderlands 2 favors Nvidia graphics)

That's my problem, i have the exact same cpu as he has!

same RAM, same motherboard, same clock speed, same voltages?

There are SO many different aspects that can factor in to making a PC perform better. Overclocking the CPU, the ram and GPU will give those kind of performance gains and possibly more.

what are the specs?
of both machines if possible :p

Graphics drivers usually are not setup up to be concerned about really high framerates.
Sometimes you can upgrade and get lower framerates in non-intensive games.

The real question is why do you need more than 60 FPS? (or 120 if you have a 120hz monitor)

Sounds like he's just concerned as to why there is such a performance difference between the two systems. Not that he NEEDS more than 60FPS, but merely for curiosity.

According to this, your build should be the superior one.

Maybe he has his settings toned down?

No he has just like me pushed it up to highest settings, both have no overclocking or diffrence in game

(as far as i know, ill ask for sure)

Btw why i now already have got your attention, I can't change my resolution to 1920 by 1080p, is this because of my monitor? because is use vga? and if it's because im using vga will vdi fix this?

One thing I've noticed with Minecraft is that a DDR3 card helps it run better, no idea why but it does. If he has a DDR3 750ti then that would explain it

HWCompare is shit for starters, but where in the world do you see "about 10% better" than the 750? from the numbers im seeing, its closer to 90-100% better.

Both of you need to try something more intensive and see how it stacks up

It could be that the 750ti is running at it's full core clock, whereas your 270x is running in a power saving mode, reducing the clock to keep power consumption down until it needs to use its full potential.

One other difference is windows 7 vs windows 8.1, 8.1 could be implementing the power saving features whilst 7 might not be

GNC cards(as far back as im aware) do have dynamic core clock speeds(defined by PowerTune) which can induce frame lag.

You can disable it with MSI Afterburner, its called PowerPlay in there, and use 100% 3D clocks 100% of the time while gaming and have a reduced clock profile set up for idle(2D) which makes gaming much smoother.

Only sacrifice is powersaving/heat reduction in idle situations.

Is there a way to test if this would fix my problem? Like disabling that option and looking for any performance increase?

Royvds, there is no point in trying to fix it. You are getting over 200 fps, you monitor can probably only run at 60Hz, meaning your GPU is producing over 200 fps, yet can only display 60 thanks to limitations on your monitor. If anything, enable vSync and lock your fps to 60 to eliminate screen tearing. In other games, this issue will have no effect as your GPU will stop its power saving features when it needs to, so that it can run games at its full potential.

Do i also have to lock it to 60 fps in heavier games ?

HWcompare, as you said, is complete shit. It says an HD 5970 would be about 100% faster than an HD 7970. Lmao.

No. The extra frames over 60 just don't show up.
Screen tearing does not damage the screen - It's just a name given to a certain sort of graphical bug.

This is screen tearing. It won't damage your screen in any way, but it's not something you want for obvious reasons.

Enabling vsync fixes it, either in the game graphics options if there's an option for it, or in your video card drivers if there's no option for it in the game. I'm uncertain about movies.

Vsync isn't perfect - it does add a small amount of input delay, but most people don't notice that and it's usually considered a much better result than screen tearing.

There are two other technologies being developed by Nvidia and AMD called Gsync and Freesync, which are supposed to replace Vsync eventually. They're supposed to remove screen tearing without the input delay of Vsync. However, right now they're not really used or supported, and both will likely require new compatible monitors, so it's not really worth waiting for.

Gsync has few monitors out (not cheap though)
Freesync is not ready yet

Freesync already works with some laptops, just because the specifications of laptop screens are more specific with their given hardware configurations.
