Hey all, I've been trying to work out a build and i was wondering would I be better to use an fx8350 and a gtx 760 or an fx6300 and a gtx 770? both configurations work out around the same price, which would provide better performance for gaming?

Go with the stronger processor to future-proof your machine.

the fx 6300 and 8320 are nearly the same , both are quad core, I'd go for the 770 option, the 760 can only play games on high with some ultra, but 770 can easily max out nearly every game on ultra 1080p

You have to compare the specs directly. AMDs are priced better but Intels of equal outperform AMD.

like the i3 4130 or 4330 these are of a similar price and are 3.4/3.5ghz but apparently have better single core performance than the fx6300 but they're dual core and I've read more games are starting to use more than two cores

It's better to have a quad core at the very least
