crossfire not showing up

I have a asus 990 board ...with a 7970 sapphire and a asus 7770 do these cards need a crossfire bridge or do they communicate threw the pcie slots??? also my crossfire option aint showing up in amd catylst

No, only the card you connected your monitor to is working (presumably the 7970), the other one is just sitting there doing nothing.

No, they still need to be using the same architecture. The 7970 can be CrossFired with the 7950, the R9 280, and the 280X.

I suggest selling the 7770.

Nope, only an R9 280, HD 7950, R9 280X and of course a second HD 7970 can be CrossFired with that card. I've highlighted the most ideal options.
