I want to run the RAM dual channel in slots 1 and 3 but I can't even post when I switch em, only way I can get a post is having them in the first two slots.

Intel Core i7 4770K
2x4 sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws X @ 1866
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VI HERO
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-00BN5A0 (SATA)
111GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB (SSD)
596GB Western Digital WDC WD6400AAKS-22A7B2 (SATA)

Solution
If only working in 1-2 then sounds like bad slot or MC (memory controller) problem - one thing that often happens is the CPU cooler is too tight on a corner or side, throws the cpu out of level and not oall pins get full contact, try loosening the cooler and then snug it back down, not overly tight, then try again, if no joy might check for bent/broken pins

What sort of memory options do you have in the bios? There is one that enables and disables dual channel memory I think. I'm not completely familiar with this problem though so maybe someone else can confirm this?
