Hi! My internet speed is 30mbps when I have a direct connect from the modem to my computer. When I plug in my wifi router to my modem, and then have a wire go from my wifi router to my computer, all wired speeds are capped at 7mbps. The wifi is roughly 10mpbs. I feel like they shouldn't be capped at 7mbps. The wifi network isn't even busy, yet it's capped. Help? 
Do I need a new wifi router? If so, suggestions? I have a 2 story house with a fully furnished basement (the wifi router has to stay in the basement). Thanks for all advice!
