Hello everyone,

I just bought a Gigabyte r9 280x 3gb windforce, upgrading from a hd 7770. I'm just asking this here to be 100% sure of what i bought and to get some piece of mind :) so here are my specs:

Core 2 quad q9300 2.5 GHZ
Gigabyte EP45-DS3L
4gb Gskill ddr2
r9 280x 3gb

So i've pluged in the card but i didn't notice the fps boost i kinda was expecting. For example in skyrim i noticed a bit, but i see people playing it on Ultra fully modded with enb's with 80+ fps. Same with ESO.
I'm pretty sure its the system bottlenecking it hard.
Tomorrow i'm gonna get some major upgrades to my PC that i would like to hear someone's opinion and how would it work with the card.

Upgrading to:

FX 8320 3.5 GHZ (overclocking it to at least 4.0 ghz)
MSI 970 Gaming Mobo
8GB DD3 Ram GSkill high performance Ram
Corsair rm650
and the r9 280x

I don't want to be a douche but an answer today would be awesome since tomorrow im taking the pc to the shop to get it upgraded :D

Thank you very much,

JB

Yes, the aging C2Q is probably a bottleneck for the 280X in CPU bound games. May even be a bottleneck in games that aren't CPU bound. Your upgrade should allow the 280X to stretch its legs.
Is there any reason you are switching to AMD? Not important, just curious.
