Hello,

Hope everybody is doing well.

I am having problem with my recently purchased EVGA GTX 780 6GB with ACX cooler gpu where the display driver crashes everytime the temp reaches 72 celsius when running Heaven benchmark. I did set the fan speed to 80% to avoid overheating (crashes on auto speed on temp 68 celsius) and also set the priority to temp in precision. Also underclocked to reference speed with precesion. I tried furmark (15mins bench) and the temp reaches 73 celsius with no crashes whatsoever. The error it shows when it crashes on Heaven Benchmark is "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 340.52 stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I checked all the cables and reconnected them twice so far. The cpu temp stays under 50 celsius on load and the case has 2 corsair silent led fan for exhaust and 1 large intake fan to ensure good airflow. I tried searching the forums but people who had this crash issue in heaven benchmark also faced it in furmark. Driver crashes on few games like Metro redux when tessalation is set to very high, battlefield 4 doesnt crash even after playing for hours in ultra settings. Its really weired because it crashes on some demanding apps and games and runs fine on others. Should I go for RMA ( which is the last thing I want to do because of hassle) or is there any solution for this problem? Woudl reall appreciate if anyone can help me with this. My system specs are:

CPU: Intel 4570 3.2Ghz with stock cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte B85
GPU: Evga Gtx 780 6GB with ACX cooler
Ram: Corsair Vengence 2x4GB DDR3
PSU: Corsair 650W gold modular
Driver: Latest stable 340.52

Is this a replacement or upgrade card? If so, I would download and run Display Driver Uninstaller to clear the deck, reboot and do a clean install of the latest 780 driver. If you get the "new device detected, would you like to install" pop-up, select no and manually install the correct driver.

Then run your benchmark again and see if it still crashes.
