Why am I crashing?

I have recently decided to buy and install a Zotac made NVIDIA 760 gtx graphics card and things have gone from bad to worse. The day I bought it, I installed it into my computer, and ever since, it has been crashing constantly. Once a game is loaded up, the computer will instantly black screen for about 1 second and then crash. Once it is crashed, it will not switch back on for a good 2 minutes after I unplug and reboot the whole system. Any ideas why this is happening? Also, the GPU itself came with two slots where I need to connect the GPU to the PSU. However, I don't have enough ports to insert the GPU wires into the PSU. I managed to place two wires into the ports but left two hanging. I am relatively new to technology and don't know what to do. Should I buy more wires to connect the GPU to the PSU? If so, what wires? I am also considering the fact that my PSU /motherboard may not be able to handle the new GPU. Here are my specs:

CPU: AMD FX-4100
Core voltage:1.320 V
Specs: AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor
Core Speed: 1406.36 MHz - 3314.59 MHz
---------------------------------------------------------
Motherboard: ASUSTek Computer INC
Model: M5A78L-M LX V2 Rev X.0x

Memory: DDR3
Size: 8GBytes
NB Frequency: 2008.8 MHz
Timings:
DRAM Frequency: 669.6 MHz
---------------------------------------------------------
SPD: DDR3
Module Size: 4096 MBytes
---------------------------------------------------------
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - ZOTAC International Ltd.
Clocks:
Core: 1058 MHz
Memory: 3004 MHz
Memory Size: 2048 MBytes
---------------------------------------------------------
PSU:
MODEL:A-500BR
AC Input: 230Vac 10A 50 - 60 Hz
DC +3.3v +5v +12v1 +12v2 -12v +5vSB
Output: 28A 30A 14A 13A 0.3A 2.5A

Please any suggestions as to how I get more wires to connect my PSU to my GPU?
And also the main question: are my specs powerful enough to run this GPU?

You need a better psu. 12v rails only add to roughly 310w which is usual to a good quality 350w psus. One reason to buy from reputable psu companies like seasonic, corsair, antec, superflower, ... One way is to see if it's decent is if it has enough pcie connectors. You need 2x 6 pin and yours has none. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... See on this psu, the 12v is 540w, closer to the watt rating.

Thank you for the answer, however, there are wires coming from the PSU already, but are connected to other components. Also, will my other components be able to handle the new PSU? Such as the RAM or motherboard? Again, I'm new to this but if I'm going to purchase another item, I need to know if it will work.

The psu is not able to give enough power. Wires connected elsewhere is irrelevant. You need a better psu. One that can actually do 500w.

Could you please link me to a suitable PSU and wires which will allow me to connect my 2 wires which branch into 4 ports into the PSU?

I think I would need more wires.. http://www.ebuyer.com/642889-zotac-gtx-760-oc-2gb-gddr5...

this is my GPU.
As you can see, it comes with two wires which plug into the two sockets coming from the GPU. the two sockets coming from the GPU need four slots in the PSU. Would the PSU have these slots so I'm able to plug all my components into it?

A good PSU has all the connectors you will need.

So all I need is a better PSU and I can run my GTX 760? Check all my specs, you sure it would be okay to run?

Your CPU is a little slow but that will not cause crashes. You really need a PSU with more current.
One of a reputable brand

Just on reading up on this. I see that the PSU may be an issue as stated. Though I am curious to what the GPU temps are in game. The GTX 760 does require a 500W PSU and roughly 30Amps on the 12V rail. this GPU can draw up to about 150w, more or less. Even though it is not a great quality PSU it may still work fine for a bit. Still, It i important to get a better one. Is there anything else that you see happening beffore and after these crashes. Take a look in the event viewer and performance logs.

The gpu is rate for 170w not 150 which you can easily check on geforce.com. Don't forget other components run off the 12v rail like the cpu. It might not be getting to it's full capacity but I doubt such a low quality psu can. It's still overworking it and is causing the crashes. Also having a bad quality psu means the electricity to the other components is less stable causing them to work harder and heat up as well so he might have high temps but it's not the root cause. The psu is the obvious issue. He's literally running on a 350w psu that comes with no pcie cables trying to run a 760.

Yes thanks K1114 we've established that. This is why I've bought a temporary PSU as I have stated.

I'm able to play certain games which require low settings. However, on games such as DayZ and Battlefield 4, it will freeze up for about 4 seconds and then crash. I'm not able to see the performance logs as the screen just crashes and I'm locked out.

I don't really have much advice for BF4 and Arma 3. both are buggy and still receiving patches. Are you using MSI afterburner?. Many 3.0.0 beta versions are not stable for everyone and even the final 3.0.0 release gave me some trouble. I liked EVGA precision. Liked. There is a number of things that cause a game to crash. hopefully it is just a driver issue. BTW what driver version do you have installed?. 2014 is not a feat year for PC gaming IMO. not a great year for the PC in general, as far as games, software and Windows is concerned. Just open up the event viewer by pressing the Win Key+R the type eventvwr.msc and hit Enter. under Windows logs check Applications then Sytem. look for Errors and Critical Errors. Warnings are usually going to happen regardless and info is fine.

UPDATE: My computer crashed as soon as it booted up onto the desktop and will not switch on at all. The PSU I installed seems to still be working as I can see lights on but no components activate when I press the on button. Any solutions?

Overworking that psu finally killed something.

CPU may be dead or perhaps something on the motherboard. Check out some basic trouble shooting guides before anything else with that PC. here is Tom's Hardware basic guide with some forum members commenting. Or any other reputable tech site.
eg. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste...
Though once you get to the motherboard and CPU it is often difficult to establish which one needs repair or replacing. Though You should get a proper PSU as i could not find info on that one you mentioned weeks earlier. If a PSU is not from a reputable OEM, Seasonic, FPS, Felxtronics, just to name a few and has no affiliation then do not plug it in.
