Fitting a Corsair H100I into a CM 690 II Advanced case

Hey everyone!,

I'm looking to swap my current CPU cooler for the Corsair H100I and I've been reading a lot of threads and sites about if it would fit in this case and where to put it but I still have some doubts that was hoping you guys could help me with.

I have the CM 690 II Advanced Edition and I'm looking to either mount it at the top in push only or at the bottom in push/pull. For the top mounting option I'm not sure if it will fit every combination of motherboard and RAM sticks or if some would be too close to the top to fit. At a glance it seems like there's not much room there for the rad and coolers but I'll get some actual measurements once I can find my measuring tape XD.
Removing the HDD cage and mounting it at the bottom is what I'm really interested in but I can't find any data on the length of the tubes to make sure they can reach from the CPU all the way down to the rad while going over 2 GTX 770, does anyone have any info/experience on that?.

Regarding the P/P config, should it take cool air from the outside, push it through the radiator and then out into the case towards where the HDD are or pull from inside the case to outside out the bottom?.
And one last more, will any 120mm fan fit the rad or do I need to look for something specific to add 2 more to the 2 it already comes with?.

Thank you guys and sorry for the noob questions XD.

You are right, the outer pipe is long enough, but the inner pipe is not. You can try rotate the pump 90 degrees clockwise and mount it with the pipes facing downwards, but I don't think it will be enough. Also, in the picture the airflow seems to be directed downwards, so you must rise the case a little bit more (the fans will push the air under the case, where is little room left between the case and the desk/floor).

As a rule of thumb, the airflow should be directed DOWN ---> UP and FRONT ---> REAR.

Hello,

The H100i has 27 mm in thickness, a standard 120mm fan has 25mm, so 52mm total. It will fit OK in the top bay, but if use 2 pair of fans you must mount the second pair above the case (from inside to outside: fan pair 1 --> radiator --> upper case wall --> fan pair 2); just be sure you have enough space between the upper case wall and the upper detachable panel.

In cases with good airflow, it doesn't matter where you put the radiator (some cases have the 2x120 mm bay positioned in front, where you have the HDD bays), but you use multiple graphics cards, so any additional hot air inside the case will make the cards running hotter and noisier, therefore you should mount the radiator in the upper bay (also, you may be right about the length of the H100i rubber piping, as they are kind of short, so you cannot use the lower bay anyway).

You can use any 120mm fans, but preferably all fans should be identical because of the noise characteristics and the airflow. If you cannot find another identical pair, a solution which should match the original Corsair fans is:

or something more powerful, with 3 speeds:

Thanks for the info.

Best scenario for me would be something like this image http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h94/Big_Bopper_photos/IMAG0157.jpg Putting the radiator at the bottom with two fans on each side but going from that picture I'm not sure if the pipping would still reach down there with a second video card in place.

When you say that it will fit at the top do you mean with one pair of fans + radiator inside the case? I might be mistaken or simply wrong because I don't have a measuring tape at hand but it seems kinda tight. Do you know if you can fit 2 standard fans (25mm) between the top detachable cover and the top of the case?.

Thanks!.

Edit: Okay, I did a quick test with one of my current fans and apparently I should be able to fit a pair of 25mm fan on top of the case but underneath the top cover. If that's so then if I can't mount it at the bottom like I want to I shouldn't have much issue in mounting it on top that way.

Yeah I think I'm gonna try to mount the radiator on top inside the case then the fans in between the top of the metallic frame and the plastic cover. I'm not sure if the fan wires will be able to reach all the way to the plug through the holes already in the case but drilling a new one if they don't shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the help!.

Yup, that's from where I got most of the info and the idea to fit it at the bottom if possible but the pics I see of it being fitted at the top include both the fans and the rad inside the case which I'm pretty sure won't fit in my current setup.

I know I'm probably worried over nothing but since I find threads saying it fits perfectly, others saying it only fits with some light modding and others saying you need to cut most of the top part I don't know what to think xD. What I could figure out so far is that the 25mm thick fans should fit nicely under the plastic cover so assuming there's no problem with fitting 2 120mm fans up there things should work out... I hope! XD.
