I scrapped a few old boxes and put them together to get an old system back online. I managed to install Windows 8 somehow but now it doesn't last long until it turns off; usually 2 to 3 minutes is all I get.

Per HWMonitor two different temperatures are reaching max which I assume is why it shuts off. The CPU is clearly overheating but what is "TMPIN2" located under "Temperatures"?

Thanks!

Here's a screenshot of HWMonitor.

Solution
well..single nforce chipset..

this chipset type always run really hot..
put a small fan on top of it..
and remove the thermal pad, clean it and apply thermal paste to the your nb heatsink..

Good to know. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4. I believe the NB and SB are 1 chip on the heatsink. Could the CPU overheating somehow cause the NB to overheat? Here's a screenshot.

Here's a high quality image of the motherboard.
