my hard drive is broken I think

I have a windows 8 laptop and every time I try to boot up it says operating systems not found. I assume that I need a new hard drive, but I don't have a physical disk for the os what do I do?

You can visit the Sony VAIO support site (and use the specific model number) to get details on accessing the BIOS and perhaps SAFE MODE access, too.

It sounds like you didn't create a set of RESTORE disks, or a RESTORE USB, did you? So now, all of that RESTORE capability exists on that hard-drive. That is no longer working.

Your options are limited to the willingness of your retailer's or some tech shop's guru staff. Sony Vaio may be willing to send you recovery disks, usually at a price.
