I am planning to buy a new laptop. Got struked at my decision of buying in between a one with 1TB HDD or 128GB SSD, both having same RAM and processor..I will have Windows 7 or 8.1, Oracle database, Adobe suite, Hadoop cluster, VMware..

Which one do you think suites my need?....On a 128GB SSD i can't use more space than 128GB right? For me 1TB hard drive is good, right?

Solution
Remember that the hard drive is typically not the actual amount of free space as the size advertised. So a 128 GB SSD would probably lose 10% - 15% of its size (so would the 1 TB HDD). So you would probably really have a 110 GB SSD that then will hold the OS and programs you want to run. If you know you won't need more than 50 GB of space, then go for it. Besides you can always get an external HDD for extra files.
