My N64 USB controller was working fine until my computer crashed. After crashing, I restarted my computer to see a strange green box appear once I reached my desktop, then shortly disappear. I never saw the green box again and I've had no other problems besides the fact that my N64 controller is now dysfunctional. When playing games, button presses often do nothing, and the controller sometimes disconnects and then reconnects a couple seconds later. I tried using different USB ports, but the result is always the same. What's wrong?

a power surge may have damaged the controller or the pc.

Well find one, there's no way to rule out the controller or the pc without proving that the one is working and the other is not.

Then your controller driver got corrupted and needs to be cleanly uninstalled and reinstalled.
