Hi everyone,
I'm going to be upgrading my small, old HP L1706 to a new monitor this year. I have a GTX 780ti and am wanting to go 4K but I'm not sure if one 780ti will be able to handle modern games and Flight Simulator X at reasonable settings at 4K. Say it would be okay to go 4K, is it an issue with it only being 60hz? If I did go for 4K I would be leaning toward the Asus PB287Q. Is there a better option? Another thing, the 1440p RoG Swift (Also from Asus) seems incredible so would that be a better option than 4K? One last thing (I promise) is 60hz okay for FSX?
Regards,
Tom

Solution
Well I would persoannly get a 144Hz if money is an obstacle. So maybe a 4K 144Hz is great. I would aim for the Asus Swift but keep this is mind:

2D mode: 2560x1440 (up to 144Hz)
3D mode: 2560x1440 (up to 120Hz)
2D Surround: 7680x1440 (up to 144Hz)
3D Surround: 7680x1440 (up to 120Hz)

4K will defoenitly bring the FPS quite a lot compared to a non 4K montior.
Yes the Nvidia 780Ti will handle a SINGLE 4K monitor but if you plan to go for a multiple 4K monitors then it is not suitable. You may need to SLI it then.

When you game with 4K the FPS is at about 60+FPS for games like Battlefield. But for Flight Simulator then maybe 70+FPS. So a 144Hz may be worth considering.

Yes 60Hz will do fine if you are on a budget but if not consider 144Hz.

Hi,
Thank you for responding so quick! No I'm not on a budget so do you know of any 120 / 144hz 4K monitors? Considering that I'm going to be waiting for about 3/4 months, maybe there will be a faster 4K released? Also, surprisingly, FSX is actually quite frame hungry. On my monitor now with a 780ti and 4670k I only get 60 - 70 avg fps :pfff: but sometimes on the exterior it jumps up to 140 :) . I assume with 4K it will be stressed a fair bit more?

Tom

Okay so I've decided to go with the swift if there isn't a 144 hz 4K released before the end of the year.
Thanks for the help!

Tom
