I would like to start off by saying I'm new to this site, and I have never even posted on a forum before. I used to be a diehard PC gamer back in the glory days of UT, Rainbow6, half-life and so on..I went console for years, then wasted $700 on a Acer Aspire 5750g, which was a bitter sweet experience for me, sweet because I discovered Arma 2, and bitter because after a few months of arma2 all nighters my thermal paste wasted away and my laptop slowly became useless for gaming. I had a PS4 for a bit which only left me unsatisfied and wanting more out of life (now i understand what my ex girlfriends were talking about) So here i am ready to delve back into the wonderful world of PC gaming...unfortunately, my wallet is a little worse for wear, so i turn to you fine tech savvy harbingers of gaming excellence for a bit of advice on a subject very new and intimidating to me. I just want to play arma3 at a enjoyable framerate, maybe a little dayZ, and definitely GtaV if possible. I can only spend $600-610, anything over that and my wife is sure to lock up the cookie jar for a bit, and there is nary a substitute to be found in gaming land for those wonderful cookies i do so desire. Also, since i am new to all this, is it advisable to attempt building a PC? Is it easy or could i destroy the fragile components with the slightest fumble? Is there soldering involved or do i simply screw and snap the pieces together? Also, i like shiny things, so a case i could trick out with lighting is preferable. thanks in advance for any suggestions!! :) p.s. I have seen the ibuypower rigs in my budget with 3.8ghz CPUs..are they too good to be true. Can I really run arma3 maxed out on a $600 pre-built ibuypower rig and save myself some time??

Welcome to the forum. And I would like to say sorry for all the pain you have been through. Well PC gaming is an adult Lego fun thing and shouldn't be hard. A beginner will do fine and the forum and tuturials will guild you through.

The CPU doesn't matter as much as the GPU, as a clocked 3.4GHz can still not run games if it doesn't have a suitable or good GPU.

Here's the build for the budget.

Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($95.99 @ SuperBiiz)...

thank you for the quick response! So would this build be able to run Arma 3 at max settings? And is there any downside to buying a pre-built ibuypower system for around the same price? More suggestion are defiantly welcome!

I'm really debating on getting a ps4, but I want to play the big pc titles and all the great indie games on steam...would any of the builds suggested be able to run games like dead rising 3, and dragon age: inquisition? I found this build for a build to compete with the xbone and ps4...how would it hold up? Here's the build...
