Hey, I get this weird lag spike every one minute and I don't know why. I've been searching around the internet for a answer and most people that had the same problem had a wireless adapted but that's not my case I have a wired connection. Would anyone know why this is happening?

Here's a picture focus on my GPU clock

samsung SSD
PSU: OCZ 1000w gold certified PSU

(All my drivers are up to date BTW)

A bit confused when you say you had spikes in the first post with Bioschock and the second you have no spikes?

But yes.. Seems to be connection problem and not a hardware or software issue. You could try to disable the IPV6 protocol as I linked to in a previous thread. Otherwise I would suggest you to contact your internet provider.

Yeah any game but that's what im thinking it is, I have 30 download and 7 upload but it does mess up from time to time so my main thought is My ISP causing the problems.

What else is running at that time? Possibly some background application phoning home, looking for updates.

No updates and the only other thing is chrome opened on my second monitor. I sometimes have streams opened which could probably hinder performance.

Possibly some website opened in Chrome is doing a once a minute refresh?
Turn off everything possible, and see if it still happens.

Nope, closed chrome and it still happens. On my motherboard there's on off them connections right above the PCI slot the one with 6 pins for SLI, if I used that do you think that would help, probably needs more power?

If this is true for every game you play online and not when gaming online the it is obviously lag spikes and you need to do something with your connection? Considering the very precise spike interval I would think that this is the case, though it's a bit weird if you are on a wired connection since this is usually caused by Windows repeatingly scanning for WI-FI networks.

What OS are you running?

Danimal1q2w3 mentions that a BIOS update can be the cause depending on the motherboard, which I would agree with.

Also clean driver installs can be necessary but I'm going to assume that you already know this.

Yeah all drivers are cleanly installed but I haven't updated the BIOS yet since I got it, could that be the problem?

It depends.. You're running a 4 gen. CPU so I would assume you have one of the latest BIOS versions (>F7):

But it wouldn't hurt to see if it helps if you don't have the latest version.

You may want to disable IPV6 : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12505190#post12505190

By the way, if you want further help I think it's best that you make it clear if this is truly a connection problem or anything else so please test if you have similar issues when playing offline.

How is your wired connection set up? Are you wired to a router?

Yeah I have a wire running from my computer to the router it's about 30 metres long if that help. I'm trying a few games which arent online now will report back soon.

What router is it? Was it provided by your IPS or is it your own?

30 meter ethernet cable is pretty long but shouldn't be a problem. If you have the possibility to rule out any problems with the cable, I would recommend it (i.e. another/shorter cable, even going wireless if possible)

ISP is sky and the router is a BT openreach fibre optic. I just ran bioshock infinite and the core clock was running smooth as butter but the usage was spiking up and down from the 90s to 60s. Is that normal?

Yeah I kinda contradicted myself lol I should off said the first one was the benchmark and the second time was the actual game. Thanks for your help anyways and I'll look into that IPV6.
