Hi

I've been on the phone to various companies about upgrading my graphics card, and none can give me an accurate response because I'm under the manufacturer's recommended amount of power.

I have a 300W PSU, an Intel Core i5 3450 and 8GB RAM. My PSU, although only 300W, has excellent reviews and here's an image of the sticker for the amps and stuff: http://prntscr.com/4ilniq

The card I'm looking at is the MSI GTX 750 Ti. NVIDIA say 300W is the minimum, but MSI say 400W is recommended. Here's the card: http://uk.msi.com/product/vga/N750Ti_TF_2GD5OC.html#hero-overview

I currently have a card that uses 50W, so this card only uses 10W more.

I was told that 'in theory', I could run it. But I'm scared in case I damage my machine. Do you think I'm good to go?

The 20 amp does not pertain to the video card. 20 amps is 360 watts. Which is R9 295X2 wattage.
The 20 amp is for the whole computer.
With 288 watts .24amps available on his power supply he can safely run a 750TI which requires 60watts or 5 amps of 12v.
He can also run the overclocked versions which require a 6pin power connector by using the included molex to PCI-E adaptor.

What you need is a 750TI that does not require an extra power connector. The 750TI that need it are usually overclocked or overclockable. EVGA has a good variation of the 750 Ti which does not require extra power and runs only from the PCIe slot.

Though to be honest, I am not expecting the superclocked to run in your system. Your PSU has 28 amps on the v12 rail. The 750Ti requires 20. I am not really certain the remaining amps are enough for the rest of the system.
