Are Razer stealth keyboards worth it?

Solution
The stealth ultimate I believe uses the orange switches, which is essentially the equivalent to cherry reds.

Here's a comprehensive guide to the world of mechanical switches: http://lifehacker.com/how-to-choose-the-best-mechanical-keyboard-and-why-you-511140347

I personally prefer the click of the blue, but ultimately you'll want to try out the keyboard before buying if possible. I bought one with cherry red switches before buying the razer ultimate (aka the one with "green" switches that are pretty much blues). Wasn't a fan of the cherry red switches, ended up having lot of typos while typing.

In terms of trying out the keyboards, how would I go about this because from my knowledge, you can only order Razer products online. I've never seen them in a store like Bestbuy. Would I have to order it, try it, then ship it back for a refund if I don't want it?

Kinda funny how someone named RazerZ doesn't praise the Razer brand :p

Anyways, I kinda agree with him. It's like Apple or Alienware, to name some; you're paying more for the brand rather than the quality of the product itself. Still, it's your money, and thus yours is the decision on how to spend it.

As per how Razer works, you can't order it for a test and send it back if you don't like it, at least AFAIK. If you buy it, you keep it, unless it breaks and you have to RMA it of course.
There are authorized resellers however, which usually are local shops focusing on videogaming hardware, and that would probably be your only chance to get some kind of hands-on before purchase.

As a little addendum, don't stress yourself too much over mechanical keyboards. You need to try for yourself if they actually work for you or not. I tried different models at various expos and at friends' homes, but keep finding myself much more comfortable and accurate without them. (currently owning a non-mechanical Roccat ARVO compact keyboard)

At the time the name sounded good to me...unfortunately people mistake me for a Razer fan now lol.

As for mechanical keyboards..well from my experience "quiet" and "mechanical" don't go well together. My friend has a CM keyboard with Cherry MX red switches, and while they are fun to type on they do make a lot of noise.

I think I'll stick with Max Nighthawk x9. But thank you all for your opinions, I've seen too many negatives so I'll avoid Razer for keyboards. (Also, Apple is not overpriced, they actually are worth it for strictly video editing and graphic design, but that's just my opinion.

I didn't say they're not worth it. They're quality pieces anyway, but you can find similar, same, or even superior quality in other brands for relatively lower prices. In other words, you're usually not getting in return what you paid for, or more rarely you get back exactly what you paid for.

Why do that when you can get more for the less you pay up? ;)
e.g.
Preface: Both are awesome quality pieces, AFAIK, and both are real 7.1 headsets (they physically have the needed loudspeakers per each earpad + bass, no digital reconstruction and/or simulation).
Mad Catz's Tritton 720+ sounds as nice as the Razer's Tiamat 7.1 headset (clearer audio on the former, stronger bass on the latter, equal average quality) and is of the same build quality, but it can cost as low as 120€, while Tiamat costs usually around 180-200€.
That's about 60€ down the drain to have a green lighted triple tentacle on your head, rather than a T-shaped sign...
