yesterday i went into my bois and put my cpu ratio to 4ghz.Did not change anything else went into windows no problem but it did not show running at 4ghz only if i stress test it showed 4ghz.I know there is some settings i need to chnge to keep it at 4ghz but dont know what in the bois please help.

This is my rig

Msi H81M P33 mobo
Intel G3258
4gig ram
Seasonic 520w
two cases fans
Deepcool gammax 200 cpu cooler.

What is i safe voltages for 4ghz think i am just gonna keep it there would play most games at that ratio. The one case fan is right at the back of the cpu cooler.please give me tips and what to do

I Think you have Intel speedstep enabled, if you want to always have the clock at 4Ghz, you have to go to bios and disable it.

Speed Step automatically downclocks your processor to lower heat and save energy when its not doing anything.
You can disable it if you like, but why? It will instantly clock it back to your full setting when a load is placed as required, as you have noticed.
There isn't any reason to have your processor running full speed drawing excess power and building heat if it's not doing anything, is there?

no that`s true but will it run at 4ghs running a game?it probably safer to keep it like it is cause don't want to overheat my system its brand new and here in south Africa new parts are expensive.so must i still do an extensive stres test wast thinking of using intelburn test.any other suggestions would be great

Yes definitely in gaming your CPU will jump up to 4Ghz, cause it has to do a lot of processing. I would recommend you do intelburn test so that you know that the CPU is stable at 4GHz.

I found that the windows "Power saver" power plan plays with the CPU frequency to save power.. i solved my problem by switching to high performance.

Hope this helps.

you can use either Intelburn test or Prime 95, they both give error messages if one of the cores are not able to calculate the algorithm. Oh btw dont use both at the same time lol, idk what happens if you do but just to be on the safe side just dont do that. :D

ran intelburn test.running at 10 times and cam up stable on standard and max was only 67 Celsius that good?and in gaming it still dips that normal?think i am going to move the slider to maybe 42.one more question i only adjusted the cpu ratio is that ok or should i also go and change the vcore setting for power??

That's a good temp, I would stop overclocking when I reach around 80 Degrees Celsius at full load. and Yes you should increase the Vcore so the cpu gets enough current flowing through it. what is the Vcore atm?
