I'm having an interesting time with a recent Newegg Shell Shocker (8.26.2014) bundle. I'm not sure which component is bad or if I have multiple bad units.

1 x BIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950
1 x AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz
2 x Team Elite 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)
1 x PowerColor AX6970 2GBD5-2DHE Radeon HD 6970 2GB
1 x Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB
1 x Rosewill R519-BK Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case w/ 500W Power Supply

After plugging everything in, I hit the power button and the front panel power light is on, but no fans, no sounds, no power to anything else. I can't even power it off. Fine, I got a bad power supply. Plug in my PSU tester to verify... All the lights light up properly. Hmm, seems good.

Unplug unnecessary components from the mainboard, retry power on with same results. Bad mainboard?

Okay, dismantle working computer (with a powercooler 500W PSU) and plug that in to the build (completely removing the other PSU from the system). Boot up... POWER! I have fans I have... 1 high pitch beep then 8 normal beeps. Sort of like (hi) bee-(low)beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep-beep (not the lack of "p" on the first beep).

... Solution has been found, will create a response for that.

Solution
8 Beep codes means that the graphics system is not working properly. (A Dell thread helped me figure that one out.)

My PSU is bad. I plugged in a 2nd PSU and the system starts with those 8 beep codes.

I took the PSU from my system (1000W or 750W PSU) which had 2 PCI-E cables and plugged that into the graphics card and system and everything started up as expected. Bad build Newegg. Bad, Newegg... no cookie for you.

Well, with a bad PSU, I'm refunding the case and PSU and will get a PSU that works with the graphics card. (I have plenty of computer cases lying around, just not enough parts.)

(Also, I'm trying to find a way to marked this issue solved. Can't find the button, link, whatever.) If an admin desires, feel free to mark...
