Hi all,

Yesterday I bought a new 250 Gb Samsung EVO for my Samsung NP300E5A. Replaced the old, dying HDD, installed 64-bit Windows 7, all the Samsung drivers, Windows updates, and software I normally use. Everything worked fine, did numerous restarts between installs without any problems. Then I turned the laptop off for the night and this morning, laptop won't recognize the SSD, only the DVD drive so I can't get past the boot screen. I checked BIOS and couldn't find anything there that would make it not recognize the SSD.

Anybody have any thoughts as to what might be wrong or how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Liz

Ok nevermind, double checked the physical wire connection to the SSD and now it recognizes the SSD and boots normally. It didn't feel like it was dislodged but apparently it was just enough to not recognize it...

Thanks for all your replies!

Did that SSD show up in the Notebook's BIOS? (Not that it matters - if Windows doesn't see it, then - ugh).

I might extract the SSD and plug it into another computer (as a secondary drive) and see if that computer's BIOS and/or Windows would recognize it as a functional device.

If another computer doesn't see it, then I might conclude "dead". Hopefully, it's not full of unrecoverable data, as if that's any silver lining to this...

(Oops - SIZ and I were on the same page and, alas, at about the same time!)

Well, I hope you've learned your lesson: "Never sling the computer round-n-round, over yer head, by the SATA cables!"

I finally learned.

"Use that big power cable to the motherboard instead!" I can really sling a computer a good distance, holding onto that one.

Glad to know your problem is resolved. Good Luck.
