Hi guys, I'm going to be buying parts for my first gaming rig soon, but I'm stuck where everyone else seems to be stuck at; intel/nvidia or amd/radeon? I can't figure out if an i5 4590 with an evga gtx 770 or an fx 8320 with a dd r9 290 would be better, for next gen? I know they both will work well for current gen, but I don't want any (major) upgrades for the next 2-4 years.

Solution
Intel always, they have a lot better cpu selection right now for the price since amd hasn't made a new high performance cpu in years it seems like.

and radeon/NVidia is your choice, they both perform equally.

Yes, and +1: AMD tend to a bit cheaper but Nvidia has better energy efficiency and some really cool features (like ShadowPlay). Intel CPUs tend to have solid single core performance which can only be achieved by OCing the FX.
