This is my planned build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Vz67sY. I have bought everything except mobo ram and os. I am a little short on cash and I was wondering what would happen if I ran on 4 gb of gskill and then bought another 4 gig stick later? I was also thinking about buying the team Vulcan ram that goes on shell shocker in a bit if the price is right. What do you guys think? Thanks

do you need the dvd drive now? If not then just get those two sticks of RAM and get the dvd later.

but if you do need it then you could just get one stick now and one later, however your computer will slow down since it will only have one stick in single channel compared to two in dual channel.

I need the drive to install the os, would one ram stick slow me down if I was just watching YouTube or playing a game?

Just get the 1 stick now and another stick of EXACTLY the same RAM later, not a big deal. You can't scrape up the $30 extra needed?

1 stick is fine. 2 in dual channel is slightly 'faster', but it will run fine on one.

I'm betting the Vulcan 8GB RAM is nowhere near $30 cheaper than a set of GSkills 2x4 8GB, maybe $4
