Hello there,

I currently have:

Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Assassin 2
Cpu: Intel i7-3820
CPU Cooling: Corsair h100i water cooler
Memory: Kingston HyperX Predator 2x 2x8gb 2133mhz
GPU: 2x Gigabyte GTX 660 ti 2gb
Storage: 1x Samsung Evo 1TB SSD and 1x Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
PSU: Antec 900w
Case: NZXT Phantom 820 GunMetalGrey with its stock fans

I'm wanting anyone and everyone to build me a beast rig for roughly up to $4000-5000 AUD.

My three things im not sure on are a Motherboard, CPU and Memory.

For GPU I'm most likely going to upgrade to 2, or maybe 1 EVGA GTX 780 ti Classified Edition ACX.

PSU im looking at something about 1000W fully modular, maybe a EVGA or Corsair with some blue or white cables.

I'm very happy with my case.

So having said all of that, If anyone can recommend a Motherboard, CPU and memory that would be awesome!! :)

I'm wanting something for gaming, video editing and I'd like to get into overclocking because my current rig doesn't seem to want to. I can't even get it to run the memory at its full 2133Mhz without crashing, nor 1866Mhz. Only stable at 1600Mhz or lower :/ I also have a feeling that I made a mistake when I purchased my memory because I bought 2 kits of dual memory instead of 1 quad channel memory :(

Cheers!! :D

I think I'd simply look at a quad-channel ram kit and 2 x 780Ti's and call everything good. The Antec 900W HCG should be adequate for that system, no need to swap it out (unless aesthetics is high priority).

I will recommend running memtest86 for a few passes to ensure that the issues you're having are memory related (I suspect they are)

What about cpu? It's apparently only semi unlocked which would limit over clocking.

What memory test would you recommend? Also what things am I looking for to be wrong?

Cheers mate!

A good consideration I hadn't really considered... I'd think the 4820k would work well there (may need BIOS update) but you do have the 6 core 3930k or 4930k as viable options there that shouldn't break the bank. I don't know if you are aware of this technique for overclocking the 3820 so I'll include this article http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/18fjx4/guide_so_youre_trying_to_overclock_the_i73820_i/

For memory, MemTest86 http://www.memtest86.com/ set it up for an overnight run, any errors it reports are a sign things will not work properly - you're looking for clean passes without error
