Hiya there,
I have just finished a new build and i'm having an issue with the screen going black and the monitor says "no video imnput" This happens when starting demanding games such
as watchdogs.

the specs for tyhe system are as follows

i5 4690k (running at stock speed) cooled by corsair h55
Asus maximus 7 Gene
corsair 8gb 2133 mhz (not overclocked)
asus dcu2 gtx 770 (not overclocked)
samsung 840 evo ssd 120gb
corsair csm 650 watts

firstly the system was fine and played minecraft no problems, however when playing skyrim through steam, tombe raider or watchdogs through Uplay the screen would go black.

I removed the 8 way adaptor and plugged the pc directly into the wall and since then I have been able to play Skyrim without many problems however watchdogs is still a no go.
I have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers (the bare driver from nvidia website only) with no change

I have done a fresh install of windows and left the pc bare (minus the graphics driver, windows updates and steam)

I have tried running 3d firemark initially an error showed that mentioned the device being uinable to do full screen but subsequent 3d firemark tests have led to
the same issue as playing games.

When the screen goes black the pc seems to still be running but the screen does not come on. In the early stages the pc was restarting itself but now it just stays blanc forcing
me to force restart.

If anyone has any suggestions i would be most appreciative.

Jonathan

I haven't tried removing the graphics at present because it only shuts off when I try playing demanding games, at the moment skyrim and minecraft are working fine through the gpu but games like watchdogs results in the issue, if I remove the gpu and run the intel i5 inboard graphics will watchdogs even load?

take it out then plug your display into your mobo then download msi kombuster then run it see if it still shuts off heres the link http://www.geeks3d.com/20131118/msi-kombustor-v2-5-6-an... this will strees your graphics i'd run it with mobo graphics and your card see what happens

Hi,

thank you for you're post,

I downloaded the program and clicked run with he settings as they were

I ran the test with the graphics card in and the same issue described above happened at the moment I pressed the run button,

I then tried it with the CPU on-board graphics, the test ran successfully for ten minutes and then I concluded there was no issue (eg no flashing or screen blanc)

Does this mean there is an issue with the graphics or is it possible there is an issue perhaps with he power supply, the reason I ask is when I had the pc plugged into the adaptor (gangway)r it wouldn't even run Skyrim, when I plugged it direct into the wall it now runs Skyrim but not watchdogs (more demanding)

Thank you again in advance for your help.

I think your right,

I'm going to try returning the card, hopefully they will still let me (bought it three months ago and only just built the system) if not I may have to contact asus. I'll keep you posted in what happens,

Thank you again for your input,

Once I Identify the solution I will either post it on here myself or (if as you deduced) it was a faulty graphics card then i will pick that as the solution the very minute I confirm that is the case (I.E I get the new card and it passes the fur mark test.

I appreciate all of you're help and I will notify this thread the moment it has reached a conclusion and hence apportion appropriate credit.

**********************************************************UPDATE******************************************************************

Hi just lot let you all know I contacted ASUS (not the easiest and most fluid experience but not the worst either)
I was directed to their online form to fill in which i was promised I would receive a reply in 48 hours, I received an answer today and was asked to attempt a Bios update on the pcie-slot and if this diddnt work to contact dabs and return it to them for warranty purposes.

Dabs have online way of doing this so I had to call them by phone and arrange it. the lady was pleasant and helpful asking only for the reference number and organised a collection of the card and a replacement or refund, I decided on this occasion for a replacement.

once I receive the new card and confirm the new one is working I will return to this thread and appoint appropriate credit. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post.
