I'm finally getting down to where I have almost everything picked out for a (mostly) new build. I had planned on using my old PSU (http://www.rosewill.com/products/796/productDetail.htm) but have been informed that I should probably upgrade it. I plan on doing some overclocking, and may eventually add another 660 in SLI in the future. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

i5 4690k
Asus Z97 A
EVGA GTX 660 SC (Bought 8 months ago, so I don't plan on replacing it just yet)
Hyper 212 Evo
2x4GB G.Skill Sniper 2133 (plan on adding 2x4GB more in the future)
MX100 256 GB SSD (for now, my only storage, may eventually add another later)

It seems like we say the same things , only you're faster on the keyboard :D

By the time a SLi is needed, a single gpu would be much better, a 660 isn't exactly the best there is atm, so by the time a sli is needed, even a sli 660 might not help much 'd say

I did say that I "may" SLI in the future, but not currently. So it seems like 650+ is what I want? I really don't understand the difference between modular or not, does that matter?

But even then if OP upgrades to a GTX 760/770 or R9 280x/290 or something, 500-550w won't cut it

If you're sure that when you have enough money you will sli then yes, 650W or more is recommended, modular basically means that you can detach all cables from the psu you don't need, so it helps with cable management, semi modular is that all the must have cables can't be removed, but some optional cables can be removed or added, non modular is that no cables can be removed or added

For even the 280x 550w will be sufficient , for SLI maybe he'll need a good 650/750W.

even a r9 290x uses only 365w max, that leaves nearly 200w headroom :)

You guys don't mess around =). Thanks for the quick and detailed responses. I think I'm gonna go with the EVGA that Blackbird suggested. It's a good price point and I'd rather be heavy than light on wattage. I don't know, something just doesn't feel right about going from a 950w PSU to a 550w when I'm upgrading and plan on attempting to OC. I trust you guys that 550w would work, I just feel safer with the 750w. Thanks again!

You're forgetting an overclocked processor + Everything else he has in his build. You need around 600w for an R9 290x
